Embry-Riddle Partners with Pratt & WhitneyEast Hartford, Conn., May 17, 2007 – Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University – Worldwide Campus and Pratt & Whitney, a United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX) company, are working together to provide aviation and aerospace higher education opportunities to customers and students. Embry-Riddle’s Eastern Region leaders are collaborating with the Pratt & Whitney Customer Training Center team to expand the scope and availability of aviation and aerospace education and provide new services to customers worldwide. The initial memorandum of understanding outlines the opportunity to establish a satellite location in East Hartford, Conn., on the Pratt & Whitney campus, with a core curriculum connecting Embry-Riddle programs with employee interests and needs throughout the Pratt & Whitney network. This project is spearheaded by Dr. Bernard D. Cordial Jr., dean of academic affairs for the eastern region of Embry-Riddle Worldwide, and Laura Holmes, general manager of Pratt & Whitney Customer Training. The existing agreement could eventually expand to encompass global customer requirements. Pratt & Whitney is a world leader in the design, manufacture and service of aircraft engines, space propulsion systems and industrial gas turbines. United Technologies, based in Hartford, Conn., is a diversified company providing high-technology products and services to the global aerospace and commercial building industries. Embry-Riddle Worldwide began in 1970 as a branch of the Daytona Beach Campus at Ft. Rucker, Ala., with 20 students, primarily military working adults. Since then, the program has become one of the largest off-campus, regionally accredited colleges in the United States, with over 45,000 alumni. The Worldwide organization educates more than 27,000 students through classroom, online or hybrid undergraduate and graduate degree and certificate programs. Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, the world’s largest, fully accredited university specializing in aviation and aerospace, offers more than 30 degree programs in its colleges of Arts and Sciences, Aviation, Business, and Engineering. The university educates more than 34,000 students annually in undergraduate and graduate programs at residential campuses worldwide. Locations include Prescott, Ariz., Daytona Beach, Fla., and 130 centers in the United States, Canada, Europe and the Middle East. ###
