Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s Everett Campus partners with Edmonds Community College.

Everett, Washington, February 9, 2007 – In a move to strengthen partnerships and add value to students at both institutions, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University – Worldwide and Edmonds Community College have signed an articulation agreement that will allow students from the materials science technology program at Edmonds Community College who earn an associate of applied science-transfer degree to transfer seamlessly into the bachelor of science degree program in technical management at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University – Everett campus.

Edmonds Community College offers the only materials science two-year degree program in Washington State. Edmonds Community College is nationally-recognized for its National Science Foundation Resource Center for Materials Science Education. At Edmonds Community College, students practice in state-of-the-art labs as they learn about new innovative materials and how to build products that are stronger, lighter and more efficient.

As a rapidly growing and emerging technology, materials science includes everything from nanotechnology to advanced composites. Recent advancements and use of composites are one of the leading reasons that materials science technology skills are in high demand. Aircraft, automobiles, boats, sporting goods, and bio-tech are just a few of the industries using composites.

“This agreement between Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and Edmonds Community College is an exciting opportunity for Materials Science students who wish to advance quickly and confidently in the ever expanding fields of aviation, materials, and advanced manufacturing,” said Annette Coffman, director of academic support for the Embry-Riddle Everett campus. “The cutting edge of almost all of today’s technology relies heavily on the manufacturing of newer, more effective composites. With a solid foundation in the field of materials science coupled with a bachelor’s degree in technical management, these students will be prepared to lead the technological advances of our future,” Coffman explained.
