Campus & Community Information:
The Embry Riddle Aeronautical University's Long Beach Campus has been in operation for over ten years. Starting as a teaching center from the March AFB Center (now the Inland Empire Center) near Riverside, CA, it has grown into the Los Angeles Metro Campus, serving the entire Los Angles basin.
Located in Airport Plaza, next to Long Beach Airport (LGB), our new facility is near the C-17 and B-2 re-work facilities for Boeing Aircraft. Across the runway is the Gulfstream hanger where G-450's and 550's get their final outfitting. Both the Air Force's C-17 "Globemaster III," and the Boeing 717 are built here, and Flight Safety trains corporate, military, and airline pilots in their array of full motion simulators.
With its central location, and expanding facilities, the LA Metro Campus is ideally situated to serve the growing aerospace industry as well as southern California's extensive aviation community.
Long Beach Airport has a long history, dating back to the 1920's. Douglas Aircraft moved their main manufacturing facility to Long Beach when they started building the DC-8 jetliners. Later, it was (under McDonald Douglas) the primary manufacturing site for the DC-9, the DC-10, and the MD-11. The airport is situated midway between Los Angeles' LAX and Orange County's John Wayne Airport and offers easy access to the area's business centers and massive consumer markets. LGB, served by Jet Blue, Alaska , America West and American, provides a degree of ground and air transportation convenience that is unparalleled in Southern California. |
