Bachelor of Science in Space Physics

Research Opportunities

Research station at the South PoleOpportunities exist for students to actively participate in the department's research activities. These include

  • upper-atmospheric research from ground-based sites all over the world, including the South Pole (pictured at right);
  • sounding rocket studies of atmospheric composition and hypervelocity shock waves;
  • high-temperature superconductivity;
  • space-systems engineering;
  • and astrophysics.

Physical Sciences research labs include the Space Physics Research Lab,  Atmospheric Physics Research Lab, the Computational Atmospheric Dynamics Research Lab, and Lab for Advanced Instrumentation Research.

Co-op and Internship Opportunities

Many Space Physics and Engineering Physics students expand their education through co-ops and internships, which often lead to job offers. Students have received offers from companies such as:

United Space Alliance
Computational Physics
NRL
NASA
Boeing Aerospace
Lockheed-Martin
Space Camp
