Master's Degrees
- Aeronautics
- The Master of Science in Aeronautics is a broad-based, flexible degree that provides the aviation professional with a rigorous individualized curriculum based on the "man-machine-system-solution" concept. This background endows the graduate with the knowledge and skills necessary to advance in the aviation/aerospace industry. The degree allows in-career flight crew members, air traffic control personnel, flight operations specialists, industry technical representatives, aviation educators, and other aviation/aerospace professionals to enhance their knowledge and careers.
- Aerospace Engineering
- Candidates may choose from two degree options: the Master of Aerospace Engineering (non-thesis program) or the Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering (thesis program). Both programs provide formal post-baccalaureate study in areas of knowledge required by engineers engaged in aircraft/aerospace-oriented research, development, and design activities.
- Business Administration - MBA
- In the Master of Business Administration program, you will learn to use modern management concepts, methods, and tools in organizations in aviation and other industries. You will gain an understanding of the unique characteristics of the aviation industry and the management principles underlying all business.
- MBA-Aviation Management (Online from Daytona Beach Campus Faculty)
- Embry-Riddle offers an MBA in Aviation Management through a broad-based telecommunications network. This provides students with an MBA program located in the Daytona Beach College of Business and the opportunity for adult learners to interact with a group of scholars at the forefront of aviation and aerospace management education.
- Human Factors and Systems
- The Master of Science degree in Human Factors and Systems has two distinct tracks. Choose human factors to learn the techniques of human factors research OR systems, to learn the systematic approach in designing machines, tasks, systems, and workplaces. These programs are designed meet the highest academic rigors (full preparation for doctoral- level studies), while at the same time preparing the students for immediate employment in real-world, cost-sensitive, and operationally driven aviation/aerospace environments.
- Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering
- The Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering (MSME) program provides students advanced study in engineering with a specialization in Electro-Mechanical Systems. Both thesis and non-thesis options are available. Students are expected to participate in both applied and theoretical research. Typical research areas include unmanned and autonomous vehicle systems, robotics, high-performance vehicles, clean energy systems and computational fluid dynamics. Students are prepared to design and implement electro-mechanical systems to fulfill the needs of a wide range of industries, including aerospace, aviation, automotive, and energy systems.
- Software Engineering
- The goal of the program is to provide recent college graduates, or college graduates who have had several years of professional experience, in-depth understanding of the tools, techniques, and disciplined engineering practices that are needed to be successful in the rapidly changing field of software engineering. These experiences and skills provide the foundation for technical excellence and career growth. Graduates of the program can rapidly assume positions of substantial responsibility within a software development organization.
- Engineering Physics
- Our Master of Science in Engineering Physics program (Space Science) specifically emphasizes scientific instrumentation, applied optics, remote sensing, spacecraft subsystems (such as power, attitude and thermal control), and a wide variety of topics in space science and engineering. This program is heavily research-oriented, covering areas such as experimental programs with satellite systems, sounding rockets, ground-based remote-sensing experiments, and a parallel program of theoretical studies in many areas.
- Ph.D. Engineering Physics
- The objective of this Ph.D. program is to provide advanced education and research opportunities to exceptional students by providing a research environment that fosters collaboration, creative thinking, and publishing of findings in nationally recognized journals. Areas of research emphasis will build upon existing research in the Physical Sciences Department. These include the measurement, theory and modeling of the near-space and space neutral and plasma environment, studies of the Sun and stellar activity, orbital stability and dynamics, engineering related to spacecraft instrumentation and remote sensing measurements, and the design and implementation of electro-optical and radar systems.
Bachelor's Degrees
- Aeronautical Science
- The Aeronautical Science degree program blends flight training with rigorous academic study in a unique manner that provides a strong foundation for a career as a leader in the aviation industry, including airlines, corporate and commercial aviation, or the military. This approach to aviation education gives the student added value over traditional flight training programs by focusing on the skills and knowledge required by today's industry.
- Aeronautics
- The Aeronautics degree is designed specifically for students who work, have worked, or desire to work in aviation-related careers. For students with existing aviation-related knowledge and skills, this degree acknowledges a student´s valuable acquired experience through the award of advanced standing prior-learning credit. The curriculum then builds on those skills and knowledge. The program also provides an opportunity for those students new to aviation to acquire aviation-specific knowledge through aviation-related coursework. This combination of a student´s aviation learning, aviation courses, business, computer science, economics, humanities, communications, social sciences, mathematics, and physical sciences, along with professional development elective courses and a minor course of study, will prepare graduates for a career in an aviation-related field.
- Aerospace Engineering
- The Aerospace Engineering program at Embry-Riddle is the largest in the United States and is recognized as the nation's premier program by U.S. News and World Report. The curriculum provides you with specific aerospace design skills and a broad exposure to theory, modern analysis, measurement, and communications and computational techniques essential to the profession. The ABET accredited curriculum focuses on vehicle design for air, space, land, or water. Before graduating from the program, you will be able to combine scientific theory with practical application and be capable of applying economic analysis to the completion of a vehicle design project. Embry-Riddle is the first university in the nation to have students work with a revolutionary stereolithography laser-modeling process. Within hours, students can create 3-D composite plastic models using CAD (computer-aided design) instructions. This enables them to mold their prototype, test it, and fly it in our wind and smoke tunnels.
- Accelerated Program Aerospace Engineering
- The Aerospace Engineering program at Embry-Riddle is the largest in the United States and is recognized as the nation's premier program by U.S. News and World Report. Now we have added a five-year program in which students earn both Bachelor of Science (BS) and Master of Aeorspace Engineering (MAE) degrees. The graduate curriculum offers these areas of concentration: structures; aerodynamics and propulsion; and astronautics and control.
- Aerospace Studies
- The Aerospace Studies provides the raw materials to design your future as an innovator and a leader. Start with core courses in the humanities, geography, international studies, philosophy, ethics, and psychology. Then select and combine three minors from the classes offered in our other degree programs. Choices include air traffic control, business administration, aviation safety, weather, computer applications, computer-integrated manufacturing, computer science, environmental studies, flight, human factors, humanities, logistics, mathematics, communications, psychology, secondary education, and space studies.
- Air Traffic Management
- System changes that will introduce new methods for managing the world's aviation arteries are in the research phase. As a student in this program you will find yourself on the cutting edge of these new developments while being trained in state-of-the-art facilities. You will study with faculty who have actual ATM experience. As a graduate, you will enjoy an advantage, having emerged from one of only a handful of training schools under the FAA Collegiate Training Initiative. And, you'll be surprised by the earning potential in this field.
- Applied Meteorology
- Working toward a degree in this area, you will study and simulate atmospheric and climatological conditions for the purpose of predicting and interpreting weather. Graduates will be qualified for jobs in aviation and aerospace, radio and television, and business and government operations.
- Business Administration
- The general education block of courses within the Business Administration program is designed to give graduates a well-rounded background essential to their success in the business world. You may major in Management or Air Transportation.
- Civil Engineering
- Civil engineering students study the design and fabrication of transportation components, and learn how to integrate those components in and around airports and future spaceports. As a student, in addition to airport design, you will learn to manage problems relating to merging points of air and land transportation systems. Though the primary focus is on aviation related projects, graduates emerge from this program with the background to succeed in any area of civil engineering.
- Communication
- With a curriculum tailored toward the aviation/aerospace industry, the communication program at ERAU is unique. Not only will you learn the editing, design, and linguistic skills common to all communication professionals, you will also master specific genres such as feature writing and crisis communication. Our graduates are poised to assume roles in the areas of public relations, reporting and information management, with skills specially suited to the dynamic field of aviation and aerospace.
- Computer Engineering
- Computer engineers are in high demand the world over. The program at Embry-Riddle is a unique application of Embry-Riddle's traditional strengths in computer science and engineering and the emerging field of distance education. Students acquire a broad background in computing machinery, concentrating on programming languages, circuit theory, embedded control systems, real-time systems and software engineering. A bachelor's degree in computer engineering prepares the student for life and work in the 21st century through the curriculum's emphasis on information technologies.
- Computational Mathematics
- The Bachelor of Science in Computational Mathematics is an applied mathematics program designed to prepare graduates to work in aerospace and related industries. Students will cover the necessary mathematical core materials to become an "expert in mathematics". Then they will take several courses in computational methods which explore the process of solving applicable mathematical problems by utilizing various computer programs. This program will prepare students for employment in a wide range of areas related to aerospace. In addition this program will prepare students for graduate studies in fields ranging from advanced mathematics to physical sciences or engineering and computer science.

- Electrical Engineering
- Embry-Riddle will prepare you for a career in electrical engineering by providing you with a broad background in circuit theory, communication systems, computers, control systems, electromagnetic fields, energy sources, and systems, materials, and electronic devices. With an emphasis on design, the culmination of the program is a senior year capstone project that teams electrical engineering students with students from the aerospace and software engineering programs to build an aerospace system or subsystem.
- Engineering Physics
- Spacecraft engineering and space physics constitute the theme of this engineering program and are the focus in junior- and senior-level courses and the capstone space systems design project. Opportunities exist for students to actively participate in the department's research activities in space systems engineering and space science. Because of the strong emphasis on fundamentals, the EP program provides an excellent stepping stone into the space program. Most of our graduates pursue careers in space-related professions as space systems engineers or space scientists.
- Homeland Security
- Students in the Bachelor of Science in Homeland Security program will be well-prepared for a career in homeland security through a rich integration of state-of-the-art coursework, guest lectures, field trips, and experiential learning. In addition, the program provides students with practical skills as well as research and volunteer opportunities in homeland security.
- Human Factors Psychology

- The Bachelor of Science in Space Physics is an applied physics program designed to prepare graduates to work in space- and aerospace-related industries.
