Our Program Develops Critical Thinking Skills and Technical Know-how

The rapid evolution of navigation, communications, and surveillance systems in aerospace vehicles demands a curriculum with advanced courses in electronics circuits, computer-aided design, and systems applications. In our program, you’ll examine analog and digital avionics components, logistics, and avionics system designs. Classroom theories are applied to practical system designs, and analytical testing is carried out in our well-equipped electronics and avionics laboratories.

Aerospace electronics technologists use specialized materials and equipment for the design, manufacture, operation, and maintenance of highly sophisticated technical systems. They estimate project costs, prepare work schedules, and suggest ways to improve productivity and efficiency. They also perform computer analyses, provide measurements, collect data, and modify designs on computer-aided design (CAD) systems.

Embry-Riddle's aerospace electronics program prepares students to be immediately productive and successful in the areas of design, support, or operation of airborne and space electronics systems.

The curriculum includes mathematics, science, communications, and a select group of courses that enhance your ability to think critically through difficult problems and situations. The core courses develop a foundation that prepares you for advanced in-field topics.

DEGREE CURRICULUM

The Aerospace Electronics Program Curriculum

The aerospace electronics degree is designed to provide the requisite knowledge to excel in the fields of applied aerospace electronic engineering and technical support of aerospace vehicles and systems. General education requirements include mathematics, science, communications, and other applicable subjects. This balanced approach to education enables the graduate to apply techniques of critical thinking and problem solving to a logical result in challenging situations.

The primary focus of the degree program is entry positions in Commercial Off-The-Shelf Systems (COTS) development., test and evaluation, and Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) with aerospace electronics manufacturers, aircraft manufacturers, and related space industries.

Admission Requirements

Students entering this program should have a basic background in math, physics, and chemistry. College algebra and trigonometry are the entry-level math courses. Students wishing to strengthen their background in math and the basic sciences before enrolling in the prescribed courses should contact the department chairman or the program coordinator for guidance.

Several courses in each academic year have prerequisites and/or co-requisites. Check the course description in the catalog before registering for classes to assure requisite sequencing.

 The Bachelors of Science in Aerospace Electronics requires successful completion of 120 credits as outlined in the following course list. A minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.00 is required of all aerospace electronic related courses.

A career fair is hosted at the Daytona Beach and Prescott campuses each fall. Throughout each year, dozens of companies visit the campuses to recruit students and to provide information about their industry. On-campus interviews are also scheduled year-round.

The Career Services Office employs a staff of program managers to provide one-on-one career advisement, mock interviews, and résumé critique services. The Career Services Office encourages students to make contact early in their Embry-Riddle educations to explore career options and develop a successful job search strategy.

The EagleHire Network allows students and alumni to submit résumés directly to employers seeking full-time and co-op/internship candidates. EagleHire is a free service and is available to all students and alumni of the University.

Cooperative Education/Internship Program
Cooperative education positions provide an opportunity for students to gain valuable work experience while earning college credit, learn about their chosen field, and establish contacts in the industry. Co-ops and internships are opportunities to earn college credit while gaining career-related work experience for undergraduate and graduate students.
