How well do Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University graduates do in the job market?

There are two surveys conducted on where graduates go after graduation.  Institutional Research administers the Graduating Student Survey at the time students graduate, and the Alumni Survey 3-5 years post graduation. For survey information, see the Statistics page.

As a Worldwide student or alumnus, what can I do with my degree?

With many of the Worldwide degrees, you can pursue various employment opportunities in aviation/aerospace and in other related industries.  You should use the focus of the degree along with your background, experiences and passions to select the career path that is most appropriate.

Does my degree guarantee employment?

The completed degree will open the door to more opportunities since many jobs require, at the minimum, bachelor-level degrees.  The degree alone does not get a candidate a job; the candidate’s abilities, experiences, traits, personality, attitude and connections contribute to the person being qualified for a job.  If you examine various job descriptions, you will find that, on average, there are approximately six to ten qualification requirements listed, education being only one part of the list.

What services does Worldwide Career Services provide?

The office provides career and job search advice, a resume referral and job database system known as the EagleHire Network, annual Industry/Career Expos at each of our residential campuses, career-related document critiques, and various resources.  The Career Services Office advertises job and internship/co-op opportunities to students and alumni but does not place individuals into positions.

How are employment opportunities advertised to students and alumni?

The Career Services Office uses the EagleHire Network to communicate opportunities, both full time and co-op/internship.  The Career Services Office and our employer partners post positions to EagleHire.  The Office also uses EagleHire to send newsletters and other communications to students and alumni who opt to receive the information.  In addition, the Career Services Office maintains the website
http://www.erau.edu/career/ and groups on ERNIE/Blackboard, LinkedIn and Facebook.  We encourage students and alumni to utilize available external resources in conjunction with the EagleHire Network.

Do employers recruit for specific degree programs at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University?

Employers who have a connection with the University often know about the degrees offered, but employers most often seek specific career focuses and/or job titles when posting and advertising available opportunities (marketing, maintenance, aviation safety, etc.), as opposed to specific degree programs.

Does the Career Services Office provide employer names and contact information upon request?

The EagleHire Network contains a section to search for employer contact information.  Individual employers may or may not make their contact information available.  You can use the available contact information as found in the EagleHire Network in a professional manner to search for employment.

How does the Career Services Office handle resumes and other career-related documents?

When a student or alumnus requests a critique, the Career Services Office will provide feedback, suggestions and/or samples to the job seeker but will not create or write the resume.  When job seekers upload their resumes into the EagleHire Network, they will also receive mandatory resume reviews.  The Career Services Office does have strict resume standards that are enforced when documents are uploaded into EagleHire.   This requirement helps to protect job seekers from sending out career-related correspondence laden with mistakes and ensures that the Career Services Office maintains its reputation among employers as a source for quality candidates.

Can the Career Services Office get a student or alumnus a job?

The Career Services Office serves as liaisons between students/alumni and the employers.  Employers make any and all hiring decisions, and the office does not and will not influence these decisions.  We share information on potential opportunities, events, companies, and resources to enable the job seeker to find employment.

Does the Career Services Office screen employers and/or job postings?

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University does not and will not endorse, condone or support either the companies seeking employees or any new job and surrounding activities for which employment is sought.  The intended purpose of this service is to provide possible job opportunities for students and alumni and creates no warranty as to any listed company.  Choosing a job is your decision; please use caution and common sense.

Does a degree at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University mean I can obtain employment in the United States if I am an international student?

The number of available opportunities to work in the United States will be based on a number of factors including employer-specified hiring requirements, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration requirements, number of available visas, the degree program/area of specialization, and many other factors.  A degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University does not guarantee employment in the United States.

Does the Career Services Office handle hiring for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University?

The Embry-Riddle Human Resources Department handles all hiring for the University.  For more information, please visit http://www.erau.edu/administration/hr.html
.
