James Hagedorn

James (Jim) Hagedorn was elected to the Board of Trustees for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in April 2005. He presides as Chairman of the Investment Committee and serves on the Development Committee of the Board of Trustees.

James Hagedorn is a graduate of The Harvard Business School's Advanced Management Program and holds a degree in Aeronautical Science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

He has served as Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer of The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company since January 2003. Hagedorn was president and chief operating officer of the company in April 2000. Before April 2000, he was in charge of the company's North American business.

He joined Scotts Miracle-Gro in 1995 as Senior Vice President and served as Executive Vice President and major architect of Miracle-Gro's success both in the United States and in the United Kingdom. Following the merger of Consumer Gardens Group and Stern’s Miracle-Gro, Hagedorn was instrumental in the effective integration of the two businesses.

Mr. Hagedorn serves on the Nurse-Family Partnership board of directors; is associate trustee of the North Shore Hospital in Manhasset, N.Y.; chairman of the board for the Farms for City Kids Foundation, Inc. in Reading, Vt.; board member for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Foundation; and trustee at the Intrepid Foundation. He also served as co-chairman of the National Fund for the U.S. Botanic Garden in Washington, D.C.

Mr. Hagedorn also served in the United States Air Force for seven years as a captain and an F-16 fighter pilot.
