Vice President and General Counsel

Michael Murray serves as Embry-Riddle's General Counsel. He is a seasoned lawyer with a significant background in executive leadership, management, corporate administration, labor and employment, contracts, and litigation.

Murray began his career as an officer of the U.S. Air Force Judge Advocate General's (JAG) Corps, where he served first as the Chief of Claims and Tort Litigation for the Air Force Development Test Center and General Counsel to the base hospital at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida, and then as Associate Command Counsel to the Defense Contract Management Command in Van Nuys, California. After leaving the active service of the U.S. Air Force, Murray served as Assistant Regional Counsel for the Social Security Administration and then as Associate General Counsel-Litigation for Meridian Insurance Group. Murray has also served as Deputy Director and Chief Operating Officer of the Division of Family and Children in the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration, and as "Of Counsel" at the Indianapolis law firm of Duffin & Hash, LLP.

He holds a B.S. in Public Administration with a specialization in Law and Public Policy from the Indiana University School of Public and Environmental Affairs and a Juris Doctorate from the Indiana University School of Law-Bloomington. Murray writes and speaks on leadership, management, small business, and parenting topics. He is a contributing author to the Indiana Minority Business Magazine and Indiana Parenting Magazine, and the author of children's books.
